Our Story

"you are never too young to have a voice."

~ Kyra-Lee Harry, Founder of F.C.M.A

where it all began

In the sixth grade, I joined the New York City (NYC) 4-H program, where I further developed my passion for math and science (engineering), public speaking and civic engagement.

finding my voice

At the age of 15, I was the youngest person to ever be appointed to a community board in the United States. During this time, I learned what it meant to share my passion for civic engagement and encourage others to also find what they are passionate about. I learned how to use my voice to advocate for change and inspire my fellow peers.

#Kyraluhdakids

After two months at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) as their freshman ambassador. For four years, I would hold many chapter and regional roles, including the Region I Pre- Collegiate Initiative Chair (PCI) / PCI Conference Planning Chair (CPC). This role allowed me to create programming for middle and high school students exposing them to the S.T.E.A.M. field. In November 2019, I was able to plan, oversee, and execute the PCI S.T.E.M mini conference. Thus the phrase, #KyraLuhDaKids started to become a part of who I am. I love what I do and loved being of service to the students.

how F.C.M.A came to be

In my second semester junior year, I started taking the course social entrepreneurship at the NYU Stern School of Business. After two months, due to COVID-19, all classes transitioned to remote learning. For my final project, I decided to work by myself and thus F.C.M.A was born. I learned from my experiences and passion for civic engagement, S.T.E.A.M and public speaking and the course title and knew that I wanted to build a company that showed my love for these topic areas.

how F.c.m.a got its name

My vision behind creating Future Change Makers Academy stemmed from my involvement, from since I was a child, in various learning opportunities. I was blessed to have a support system that helped me develop my own unique voice. I curated the hashtag #KyraLuhDaKids and used #FutureChangeMakers, which sparked a lot of interest and has since been used by many. I want to give back and provide youth similar opportunities I had, thus the name Future Change Makers Academy came to be. The Academy part of the name is from the long term vision of F.C.M.A becoming a school.

our purpose

F.C.M.A wants to ensure that information in various topic areas, is more accessible and relevant to the current generation. Through advocacy, outreach, collaboration and action, we hope to amplify youth voice and influence change. We envision a world where the voice of youth:
